The Irish Aran was once an object of great cultural significance and importance, and although it still is, how we use it and view it has changed. It was once used to identify fishermen’s bodies that washed up at sea by tracing the intricate family patterns knitted into the garment. The Aran later became an iconic fashion statement piece, later becoming a common everyday jumper in our wardrobe - it has stood the test of time. The aim of this short publication is to breathe new life into the past and educate. Creating a  publication with a different feel and look from typical Irish historical publications while maintaining elements of the past was a very important part of this project.
